The Hopkins Emergency Response Organization (HERO) is an emergency medical
services organization on the Homewood campus of the Johns Hopkins
University. Johns Hopkins is located in Baltimore, Maryland and its Homewood campus is home to
about 5000 students, faculty, and staff.
HERO operates the
Hopkins Emergency Response Unit (HERU), a collegiate EMS service that
responds to medical emergencies on the Hopkins Homewood campus, and the
Hopkins Emergency Response Teaching Unit (HERTU), which teaches classes
in CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Response.
HERU is a Basic Life Support quick response service that is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the fall and spring semesters and on a modified schedule during Orientation, Intersession and the summer. In case of medical emergency, HERU can be reached by calling 410-516-7777 or 911 from any campus phone
