Join HERU

The Hopkins Emergency Response Unit is staffed entirely by students at the Homewood campus and we are always looking for new members. To join HERU, you must be currently certified as a American Red Cross (ARC) Emergency Responder or higher (including EMT-Basic). You must also hold a valid current certification in ARC CPR for the Professional Rescuer or the equivalent certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or National Safety Council (NSC). Applicants must also pass a practical "challenge" test before being allowed onto the unit

If you already hold the appropriate certifications to join the Unit, contact the HERO Training Officer for more information.

If you do not already hold the required certifications but are still interested in joining the Unit, the Hopkins Emergency Response Teaching Unit holds classes each semester in CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Emergency Response. You can find more information here.
